What are the advantages of copper core cables compared to aluminum core cables?
Date: 2018-05-31 Source: Mingxin
1. low resistivity: the resistivity of aluminum core cable is 1.68 times higher than that of copper core cable.
2. the ductility is good: the elongation of copper alloy is 20~40%, the electrical conductivity of copper is over 30%, and the aluminum alloy is only 18%.
3. high strength: allowable stress at room temperature, copper is 7~28% higher than aluminum. Especially the stress at high temperature is far from the difference.
4. anti fatigue: aluminum is repeatedly bent and easy to fracture, but copper is not easy. In terms of elasticity, copper is also about 1.7~1.8 times higher than aluminum.
5. good stability, corrosion resistance: copper core is anti-oxidation and corrosion resistant, and aluminum core is easy to be oxidized and corroded.
6. carrying capacity: because of low resistivity, the copper conductor with the same cross section is about 30% higher than the allowable carrying capacity of the aluminum core cable (the maximum current that can be passed).
7. low voltage loss: due to the low resistivity of copper core cable, the same cross section flows through the same current. The voltage drop of the copper core cable is smaller. The same transmission distance can guarantee high voltage quality. Under the condition of allowable voltage drop, the power transmission of copper core cable can reach a far distance, that is, the power supply covers a large area, is beneficial to the network planning, and reduces the number of power supply points.
8. heating temperature is low: under the same current, the copper core cable with the same cross section has much smaller calorific capacity than aluminum core cable, making the operation safer.
9. low energy consumption: because of the low resistivity of copper, it is obvious that the power loss of copper cable is low compared with that of aluminum cable. This will help improve the utilization of electricity and protect the environment.
10. oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance: copper core cable connector has stable performance and no accident due to oxidation. The joint instability of aluminum core cable often causes accidents due to the increase of contact resistance and heat due to oxidation. As a result, the accident rate is much larger than the copper core cable.
11. the construction is convenient:
The copper core has good flexibility and the allowable bending radius is small, so it is easy to bend and easy to wear.
The copper core is resistant to fatigue and repeated bending, so it is easy to connect.
The copper core has high mechanical strength and can bear large mechanical pulling force, which brings great convenience to construction laying, and also creates conditions for mechanized construction.
